sitting on a river bank,
waterfalls below us,
i’m wondering who to thank
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
whether to thank god for sculpting this beautiful valley,
a 360° work of art,
everywhere around you,
another magnificent part,
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
the trails are paths of light,
white splotches on mountains,
reminiscent of an abstract painting,
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
the views are a youth fountain,
as they breathe life into you, but takes your breath away not soon after,
a surreal location,
to experience total rapture, ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
or whether to thank my friend,
to whom my appreciation will never end,
taking me through the twist and bends, with endless hospitality,
where do I even begin?

well, thank you for everything.
you’ve given my eyes something they’ve never seen,
i am grateful,
even though at times the cold was a bit menacing,
through it your kind heart and company kept me warm,
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
it’s still hard to make a choice,
so I will make a toast,
multiple thank you’s to our gracious hosts,
thank you, thank you, for doing the most
i now realize...
why thank one?
when you can thank both.
