PROJECT BRIEF
BKLM was founded to directly confront severe educational disparities, such as historical data showing over 80% of Black students in Los Angeles are below basic math standards.

The summit bridges the gap between families and systemic change, celebrating Black students' innate mathematical abilities while constructing actionable strategies for support both in the classroom and at home.

As the Designer across the summit's evolution, from the foundational Facts Bet On Me (2023) and student-centered BKLM 2 (2025), to the parent-focused BKLM 3 (2026). My mandate was to craft a visual identity that completely shattered the clinical, intimidating aesthetic of traditional math education.

The design needed to mirror the urgency of systemic advocacy while cultivating a celebratory, culturally rooted, and safe environment.
